2:42

2:42 is based around Acts 2:42:

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

In this short paragraph at the end of Acts 2, the formation of the church, we get a look at the important features of the early church: teaching, fellowship, meals, and prayer.

During this Bible study, we will definitely look at Scripture, and learn from what it is saying, but I’d like this Bible study to be more than that. Perhaps the idea of even calling it a Bible study isn’t a good fit.

My goal, or hope, is really that we would go deeper than simply learning as best we can what a passage of scripture says or its meaning. What does it really mean for me today as a Christian? I want to talk about and tackle questions about things we are struggling with, ways we want to grow. Somehow, by the process of sharing (fellowship), looking into scripture together, and praying for and with one another, that we would dive deeper into our faith and relationship with the risen Jesus and be consumed by the presence of Holy Spirit.

It’s a tall ask. It’s an ask that I can’t manufacture because I prepared rightly or in the best way. It’s something that can only happen as we share and participate in the life of God together.

Join us as we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30p-7:30p.
